COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA 18-18) Refresher Course is a short course for clinicians who already hold AHA 18-18 certification. It is designed for participants to review important updates about the AHA 18-18 and recalibrate scoring accuracy against the criterion-referenced standards, helping maintain the consistency and reliability required to score the AHA 18-18 in clinical practice and research. This course is strictly limited to currently certified AHA 18-18 raters only.

COURSE OUTLINE AND DATES

This course covers reliable scoring of the AHA 18-18 assessment, Version 5.0 and is organised in several steps as follows.

Step 1 – Access pre-course materials and complete self-directed scoring

Friday 6th November to Monday 23rd November 2026

Modality: Self-directed learning
Time requirements: 6 to 7 hours
Time for completion: 2 weeks
Description: Self-guided learning modules accessed via the CPTeaching Learning Management System (LMS). These modules include information about recent AHA 18-18 updates and resources. Quizzes will be used to test your knowledge. You will also be given the opportunity to practice scoring 4 (four) AHA 18-18 cases. You must complete the step within the specific time frame (2 weeks) to proceed to the Online Forum. There are no exceptions.

Step 2 – Online forum

Tuesday 24th November 2026: 7:00 am to 10:00 am (Melbourne GMT+11), 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (Auckland GMT+13)

Tuesday 24th November 2026: 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm (London GMT), 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm (Berlin/Paris/Stockholm GMT+1)

Monday 23rd November 2026: 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm (Vancouver/Los Angeles PST), 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Chicago CST), 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm (New York EST)

Modality: Live online forum
Time requirements: 3 hours
Description: The Online Forum allows participants to discuss their scoring with the AHA 18-18 teacher(s) and clarify any questions about specific items. Participants will also be given the opportunity to score one (1) AHA 18-18 test administration with the AHA 18-18 teacher.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Gain insight into the recent updates on the AHA 18-18, including online score forms, report automation and the CPTeaching Learning Hub.
2. Produce reliable scores according to the AHA 18-18 criteria (AHA Version 5.0)

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Please do not register for this course if you:

1. Are not a certified AHA 18-18 rater.
2. Have planned leave or other factors that will impact your ability to complete all steps outlined above within the time frames specified.

COURSE PREREQUISITES

Partcipants must have evidence of completion of AHA 18-18 rater certification.

NEED TO PROCESS PAYMENT VIA PURCHASE ORDER?

Please do not send us a Purchase Order without first registering for a course via our website. In the event that this happens, we will not accept the Purchase Order. To obtain an invoice for payment via a Purchase Order, please select Purchase Order as the method of payment during the registration process. You, or a nominated person in your organisation, will then receive an invoice via email. Please note, there is a 10% surcharge applied for all payments processed by Purchase Order. This surcharge is applied due to the significant administration requirements to receive payment and to cover bank transfer fees, which your organisation will pass on to CPTeaching. Please note that we will not accept payment via Purchase Order within 1 month from the course commencement date due to the delays in receiving payment.
