Practical Upper Extremity Botulinum toxin-A (Online) – November 2026
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This two-session online training course is designed for clinicians working with children with neurological impairment, focusing on the rationale for using Botulinum toxin-A (BoNT-A) as an adjunct to upper limb rehabilitation. Drawing on the latest scientific evidence alongside 25+ years of clinical experience in upper limb BoNT-A use, this theoretical and practical course will help clinicians determine who, when, and why to consider BoNT-A as part of evidence-based upper limb intervention.
Both Hands Assessment (BoHA) – Online Nov 2026 (Australia/NZ)
This course has been scheduled for partcipants living in Australia and New Zealand time zones; however, participants from other countries are welcome to register.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Both Hands Assessment (BoHA) provides a new perspective on evaluating hand function in children with bilateral cerebral palsy (CP) between the ages of 18 months and 18 years. It is a further development of the Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA), which has been successfully used in children with unilateral cerebral palsy for nearly 20 years. The BoHA is a standardised criterion-referenced test intended for children with bilateral CP of spastic, dyskinetic or ataxic type with hand function corresponding to MACS levels I-III. The BoHA measures and describes how effectively children with bilateral CP use both hands together in bimanual activity performance, as well as quantifies a possible asymmetry between hands.
mini-Assisting Hand Assessment – Online, Nth America/Australia/NZ February 2027 – June 2027 (English)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Mini-Assisting Hand Assessment (Mini-AHA) was developed to evaluate the affected upper limb of young children with unilateral cerebral palsy (CP) aged 8-18 months. Like the Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA), the Mini-AHA involves a video-recorded play session using carefully selected toys that provoke bimanual hand use. Twenty object-related actions of the affected hand are later scored on a 4-point rating scale.

Il s’agit d’une évolution du Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA), qui a été utilisé avec succès pour les enfants atteints d’une paralysie cérébrale unilatérale pendant près de 20 ans. Le BoHA est un test standardisé, basé sur des critères, destiné aux enfants atteints d’une paralysie cérébrale bilatérale de type spastique, dyskinétique ou ataxique, dont la fonction manuelle correspond aux niveaux I à III de la MACS. The HAI aims to measure the degree and quality of goal-directed actions performed with each hand separately as well as with both hands together. The HAI is scored on 17 items (12 unimanual and 5 bimanual), each scored on a 3-point criterion-referenced rating scale.
Le HAI (Hand Assessment for Infants) est une évaluation récente de la fonction de la main chez les nourrissons à risque de développer une paralysie cérébrale (PC) dans la tranche d’âge de 3 à 12 mois. Le HAI vise à mesurer la quantité et la qualité des actions dirigées vers un but effectuées avec chaque main séparément ainsi qu’avec les deux mains ensemble. Le HAI est scoré sur 17 items (12 unimanuels et 5 bimanuels), chacun étant noté sur une échelle d’évaluation à 3 points fondée sur des critères.

Comme le Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA), le Mini-AHA consiste en une session de jeu enregistrée en vidéo, utilisant des jouets soigneusement sélectionnés qui sollicitent l’utilisation bimanuelle des mains. The Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA) 18-18 is a Rasch-based instrument that measures and describes the effectiveness with which a child/adolescent who has unilateral disability makes use of their affected hand (assisting hand) during bimanual activities. The AHA 18-18 is a standardised criterion-referenced test that is valid, reliable and sensitive to change. The test is intended for children with unilateral cerebral palsy and brachial plexus injuries aged between 18 months and 18 years
Le Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA) est un instrument développé avec la méthode Rasch, qui mesure et décrit l’efficacité avec laquelle un enfant qui présente une atteinte unilatérale utilise sa main atteinte (main assistante) lors des activités bimanuelles. Le AHA est un test standardisé, basé sur des critères, qui est valide, fiable et sensible au changement. Il est destiné aux enfants atteints de paralysie cérébrale unilatérale et de lésions du plexus brachial âgés de 18 mois à 18 ans.
